I'm not one for politics....but

This SNL skit is too freaken funny!

Both my husband and I are not ones for the whole political BS. I'm ashamed to say that cause as we've gotten older, I realize that we should be voting. I haven't voted since I turned 18. Mostly I think I don't participate cause I tend to make bad decisions when it comes to things of this nature. I just don't follow politics all that well. I know where I think we should go as a country, what we need - but to me, it seems most politicians are just liars....good ones at that. Personally I was shooting for Hilary, but Obama beat her out. I'm just not sure if I feel that he's the one for the job. I'm not really too sure about McCain either, but for some reason I am drawn to Palin. Even though she is surrounded by controversy, I think she's be a perfect VP. In fact the only other person I can think of that would make a good candidate is Gov. Bobby Jindal - Louisiana State Govenor. I don't know if this makes me a Republican or what. I think it's more the person rather than the party that gets my attention. I'm seriously thinking about voting this year. guess I should first make sure that I am registered!

The saying goes if you don't vote then don't bitch - but at the same time I shamefully agree with Brooke Hogan when she wrote that most people only vote because “it’s cool” and (like herself) have no real idea what’s going on in and around the White House.....and it's so true cause this whole Rock the Vote thing pushes younger college kids to exercise their right and vote, though they likely know very little about politics.
So I'm torn - should I vote though I have no clue, or should I try to educate myself in the coming weeks so that I can place my vote? What would you do? Do you exercise your right to vote?

Hey Angi...just some words of wisdom...NO MCCAIN, NO PALIN! They are BAD news! Just listen to what is happening to the economy. John McCain voted with Bush 90% of the time. Do you think he is going to make things any different than what they are now? And Palin...oh god, its hard to know where to begin. She is anti-abortion for ANY circumstances...even in instances of rape and incest. She does not believe global warming is real, and she is a creationist...forget the evidence that science puts out there! She pushes abstinence education...it really worked for her daughter, didnt it? So she parades her 17 year old pregnant daughter around on stage AND the father of the baby, calling her daughter 'courageous' for keeping the baby. Like the girl has a choice at this point! Palin knows NOTHING about foreign policy. And she is against the family leave act. She wanted to ban books in Alaska and actually fired the librarian who disagreed with her. The librarian was later put back on the payroll fortunately. Even the people in Alaska think Palin has pushed her religious agenda on them through her politics. Check out this site...http://womenagainstsarahpalin.blogspot.com/.
She is a wacko who goes against everything women have fought for for so long.
And McCain will tax your health benefits. Do we really need that right now?

Just my two cents.

this is why I hate politics. the whole campaigning process is nothing but a smear tatic. I only beleive half of the stuff out there cause I know half of it is all lies.

regardless of who is saying what, this is why I hate politics. I am entitled to my own opinion, just as you are - yet I don't force my opinion on others, I just express it.
IF I vote I DOUBT SERIOUSLY if it will be for OBAMA.
check the polls, McCain is leading by 2%

You were a Hillary supporter, right? The thing is, she and Palin agree on nothing. Im just a little confused as to how you were a Hillary supporter, but like Palin when they share none of the same views.
Not bashing your opinion...just having a political discussion. :-)

All I said was I am drawn to Palin for some reason which may not even be politically - maybe it's cause she's a hot chick, I dunno. I never discussed anything about her, just that she has a lot of controversy and that she was a good VP choice - though I would have rather it been Gov. Jindal. I DO NOT LIKE OBAMA and I am not sure I would want him for president, in fact, IF I DO VOTE THIS ELECTION IT WILL NOT BE FOR HIM and unlike others in this country my decision is not or will not be based on his color. I am not anti-black, he just lacks experience - why do you think he chose Biden to be his running mate? There are no guarantees he'd do a better job than McCain. It's the democrats (like obama) who keep bills from passing to drill for oil - oil that we need so it doesn't cost us $4 (or more!)at the pump - at least she is pro-drilling!

I just found this and thought it was interesting and true....

Top Clinton fundraiser backing McCain, not Obama 1 hour, 1 minute ago John McCain's campaign says the Republican is picking up the support of a top Hillary Clinton fundraiser and member of the Democratic National Committee's Platform Committee.Lynn Forester de Rothschild has said she thinks Democratic nominee Barack Obama is arrogant and has a problem connecting with average Americans.Rothschild is a member of the DNC's Democrats Abroad chapter and splits her time living in London and New York. She was one of Clinton's top fundraisers, bringing in more than $100,000 for her presidential campaign. She built a multimillion-dollar telecommunications company before marrying international banker Sir Evelyn de Rothschild.Rothschild plans to announce her support for McCain on Wednesday in Washington.

oh wait I take back the leading by 2% - it has increased to 20% it's a 60/40 split for McCain vs. Obama.

damn forgot the link - it shows the straw poll votes here at the bottom of the page:

http://news.aol.com/elections/article/palin-rebuffs-troopergate-investigation/175155

do I care that she fired somebody cause they wouldn't fire her BIL? NO - maybe there was a reason he deserved to be fired - maybe he was abusing his power as a trooper - and if you don't do what your boss tells you to do, then yes, it leads to firing. that's how it works in the corporate world.

Hey, Im not trying to upset you. I just know you had asked in this post what people thought. So I was just sharing my thoughts. And I was just curious because you said you were drawn to her, but you said you liked Hillary before. I agree that Jindal would have been a better choice...or Tom Ridge...for McCain. I seriously think anyone would have been a better choice. But I just worry that the religious nuts will vote for her because of that. And I really don't want religious zealots choosing what I should and shouldn't do.

I wish Jindal would run for pesident. He so totally rocks. I'm not going to get into the politics of who I'm voting for really. LOL
